An automatic mandible segmentation algorithm was proposed for the 2015 MICCAI challenge: Head and neck Auto Segmentation Challenge database. With the use of 3D template matching and geodesic dilation a Dice index of 0.80486 was obtained. The left image shows the segmentation produced by the algorithm, and the right one is the original mask.
A neural network approach is proposed for dealing with this task, using CROHME 2016 dataset. Where a new architecture was developed and obtained a 78.4% test accuracy.
